"I knew there were probably only a few people who’d “get it”, and I went straight to their booths: Weta Workshop, illustrator Noelle Stevenson (who created the Broship Of The Ring), and Tolkien fan-site TheOneRing.net. They were all totally stoked on it.

But really, aside from those people and a handful of others, I wandered the floor unnoticed. A few people said “Cool elf” and asked to see my sword, but for the most part, it was a personal mission. I became oddly attached to the idea of honouring this character - a character who was 95% invented by me, given Tolkien only noted that she had, in fact, been born - and there were numerous late nights and early mornings when I was spurred on by texts from friends in the know who’d say things like “do it for her!”

Rohdwen became a symbol of something greater - to me, at least - than just some cool costume or “headcanon” character from the Tolkien “EU”. Though I’m sure to many people this all reads like the demented LiveJournal scribblings of some chick in 2003 who wants to marry Faramir (note: not David Wenham, Faramir), in creating this character and embodying her for just a few hours in San Diego, I was able to make peace with something that had always bothered me about Tolkien’s work and, in turn, my love of it."

A not entirely unexpected journey to Tolkien nerd Mecca at Comic-Con

Yo guys I wrote about my crazed mission to pay tribute to the unnamed daughter(s) of Aragorn and Arwen at Comic-Con.

Hey, Stan Lee’s World Of Heroes:

Your interviewer is a sexist, whorephobic, deeply unpleasant jerk. “This interview’s going to be raunchy” isn’t an adequate warning for that experience. Thanks for bringing the tone down on a great day and making me feel intensely uncomfortable, assholes.

I let Felicia Day have my cab. That’s my good deed for the week, back to serving Satan now.

I AM A GENIUS.

I AM A GENIUS.
